A crash involving an SUV and a VIA bus resulted in the closure of all lanes for Loop 1604 and Schuwirth Road om the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 26th.
The accident occurred when a woman driving a red SUV allegedly ran a stop sign according to a spokesperson from the Bexar County Sherri’s Office. The woman has two children in her car, ages 4 and 6.
The VIA bus struck the SUV on the passenger side. There were no passengers on the bus. The collision resulted in the VIA bus rolling over and the SUV clipping a Ford F-150 driven by a 62-year old man.
The severity of the injuries resulted in two people being airlifted to the hospital, and three others being transported from the scene by EMS.
This is another highly unfortunate tragedy that may have been preventable. It could have been due to inattentiveness or distracted driving, but more information is needed to make that determination.
