A San Antonio man was crushed by a big rig in what witnesses described as a ‘freak accident,’ earlier this week. According to witnesses, the man, who was an employee of the company that owned the big rig, was adding air to the tires while the truck was parked. It is unclear how, but the big rig began to move while the man was working on the tires. Witnesses say the man attempted to move away from the truck, but fell, and the truck ran over him. Deputies stated that no one was behind the wheel of the truck at the time of the accident.

What are My Options if I am Injured at Work?

If you have been injured at work in Texas, your options depend primarily on whether your employer holds workers’ compensation insurance. Workers’ compensation insurance is a contract that prevents you from suing your employer in the event of a workplace injury, and, in exchange, ensures medical coverage and paid time off. However, it is not always that simple. Employers often discourage reporting injuries in order to keep their premiums low, and insurers may deny valid claims in hopes that the employee will elect not to pursue it any further (saving them money). However, even if your employer has workers’ compensation insurance, you still have options. You may be able to sue a third-party if they contributed to your injury. It is important to contact an experienced Texas work injury lawyer to ensure that you are fairly and adequately compensated for your injury. A personal injury attorney can assist you in navigating the workers’ compensation process and ensure that you receive a fair settlement, as well as determining any other possible avenues for compensation.

What are My Options if I Have Been Injured by a Big Rig?

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident with a big rig or 18-wheeler truck, it is important to speak to an 18-wheeler accident attorney as soon as possible to learn your rights. If another driver or party was at fault for the accident, a personal injury lawsuit can help you reclaim your life, by restoring you to the position you would have been in, had the injury never occurred. A successful personal injury lawsuit can compensate you for all past and future expenses related to the injury, as well as for lost wages or lost earning potential, loss of consortium, pain, suffering, and more. While nothing can erase the accident, a personal injury lawsuit can keep you from having to shoulder the financial burden alone.
