San Antonio, TX — The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified the victim of this horrendous crash as 46-year-old Donna Falkenberg. Police report that Ms. Falkenberg was sitting in her stalled Ford Fiest with the hazard lights flashing when Justin Antwan Jackson hit her from behind in an 18-wheeler truck.
Mr. Johnson then fled the scene. When police caught up to him, he stated that he”knew it was common sense to remain on the scene,” but said that “his employer told him to lie to police.” He also said he though the car was empty when he his it. When he later say a news article about the crash, and called his wife and his employer, but he did not call 9-1-1.
The crash was reported when someone saw Jackson’s 18-wheeler with extensive front-end damage and called police, who reported that parts of Ms. Falkenberg’s car were still stuck underneath the tractor-trailer when they arrived.
A witness, who was riding in the rig with Jackson stayed behind and gave a statement to police.
Thoughts from the Lawyer
This is one of the most egregious Texas 18-wheeler accidents I have seen in the entire state. If the facts are as stated in the reports, the collision never should have occurred in the first place and the 18-wheeler driver should have absolutely stayed at the scene and called 9-1-1 immediately.
It is simply unacceptable for anyone, much less a trained driver, to leave the scene of an accident – especially at the behest of his employer.
Our thoughts go out to the family during this unspeakable tragedy.
