Two teens were injured after allegedly leaving the scene of a traffic stop and crashing into a tree. The incident happened on Monday evening on Weybridge Road near 1604 and Shanfield Road in San Antonio.
Police say the car was pulled over in a traffic stop, but the driver fled. Shortly later, the car crashed head-on into a tree.
The two teens were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators said they plan to file criminal charges.
Commentary: Even when criminal activity is alleged, a party may be held civilly liable for injuries he causes during the commission of the alleged crime. This means that the passenger could possibly recover money from the driver’s insurance policy. The driver may also be able to file a claim for his injuries assuming that the accident was caused by his negligence rather than an intentional act of crashing the case.
